Vacuum pump location in '85 300D-T?

I'd like to install a keyless entry unit into my 1985 300D-T but I cannot find the main vacuum pump. It's not behind the back seat, nor behind the gas tank, nor under the driver/passenger seats, and I don't see it in the engine compartment. I looked behind the glove box but don't think I saw it there either. Where's that badboy hiding?

The diesels have engine driven vacuum pumps. Locate the big hose from the brake booster and follow it to the vacuum pump on the drivers side of the engine, down low.
Never heard of keyless entry on one of these old beasts though.

Thanks for the reply. Well, I guess it doesn't have a setup that I can splice into then for the main keyless unit. I'll check it out and let you know. It's not killing me, but it's a bit of a pain always locking the car with the key after exiting.

Just for grins and giggles, you might try a search on keyless entry. You never know, somebody out there may have figured out a way to do it.

Not hard at all. Get a power door lock retrofit kit first. They come with motors which physically push the door lock knobs up. You'll only need one, positioned in a way that it'll push the driver's door lock knob up, effectively unlocking/locking all the other doors. Wire that into your keyless module and you're done.

I did find threads on installing the k/e. That's actually what got me thinking about putting it in the 300DT. I thought.... hoped... the 300D would be able to be done as easily. I'm still into trying it. I'll check out those actuators you speak of, and ..... if I can still do it, I will. Thanks.
