I feeling more and more lucky. The clutch on my new buggy is as smooth as silk, and the tranny will shift as fast as I can throw the stick.
That's gotta be really scary if you have to wait that long to shift. |
leathermang, are waiting that long because it takes that long for the engine to slow down to match the revs needed for 3rd gear?
Assuming the answer is yes, I'm thinking your fast idle adjustment has something to do with this. I recall you telling me earlier that it did not work. Well, I fixed mine, and when I have the idle turned up the engine really likes to stay revved and takes a long time to slow down. When turned down to normal, the revs drop like a stone. So you may want to investigate your idle adjustment, which is a nice feature to have anyway. And it might make your tranny easier to live with. |
Rick makes a good point. Any binding in the throttle slows response. If that's ok then it's off to checking the shifter bushings and alignment. If that's ok then it's a synchro. Not a fun job but doable if you like precise and strongarm work rolled into one. And don't sneeze when you pull a synchro off the shaft.

Well?! Ordered those seals yet?
