With all the recent talk of 603 cylinder heads... Sixto 91 300SE 87 300SDL 83 300SD |

I'm not sure an M103 cylinder head would work too well on a OM603. Is there some kind of adapter that would permit you to mount the injectors in the spark plug holes? Tim |

Tim,
Come on Tim, you know you put the glow plugs in the spark holes and the Diesel injectors replace the gasoline injectors. LOL P E H |

I'm sure Sixto just read the ad a little too fast.
Say, that's the first W124 I've come across that had bad (rusted) floor pans. I know the W123 is kinda leaky, but the W124 has a much improved windshield and back glass seal. Guess there must be another leak path that was ignored..... Ken300D

PEH,
Isn't that how Detroit made their passenger car diesels back in the 70s? It sure seemed to work well for them.

Ken hit it on the nose. I was searching on 'E300' on the apparently not universally accepted assumption that everywhere in the world what MB badged as an E300 is a Diesel. A dissenter must have snuck this one in. I didn't read the ad before posting the link. But no, I'm not bitter about the ensuing mockery
I have a spare set of glow plugs for the SDL. I can probably nest some helicoils to work the 300SE spark plug holes down to glow plug size. Sixto 91 300SE 87 300SDL 83 300SD |

I knew exactly what you had done - I do it myself just about every day. In all seriousness thanks for the link - I've been looking for a W124 parts car and I plan to follow the bidding since the car is located in my neck of the woods. Tim |

Irg,
Maybe that's what GM did, I wouldn't put it past them. Actually it didn't work very well for them, a lot of those early Diesels broke lower block parts. I'd like to have one in a Caddilac if I could find one in mint condition. But even MB can make lemons, like the rod bender 350SDs. P E H |

Too bad it isn't an '87 300SDL. I'd bid on it if it was.
