ALDA advice

Said I would never do it BUT thinking about turning up the ALDA. From what I have read you are to turn it counter clockwise or out to increase fuel -- Right? I know the 350 engine is tuned kinda hot anyway so I was thinking about a 1/4 turn out. Think that would be safe? Car just is not as peppy as it was when new. Used to pull to indicated 121 pretty fast but now it takes a while to do an indicated 117-118. The boost is there as I have a Dawes controller and am about to install a boost guage. There is currrently no smoke when accelerating and slight smoke seen in headlights at night accelerating. Y'all that have adjusted your ALDA please give me your advice. Thanks.
