Euro lamps again...
Does anybody know a good source for Euro headlamps for my '82 300D? I can't drive with US spec "candles":p

Do you want true Euro lamps or E-codes? I vote for E-codes, cheaper to buy and replace. Try here: http://lighting.mbz.org/home.html

tradonguy,
Try a search for Euro Headlights or the like and you should be able to find some detailed instructions. This has been posted a few times in the last year or so. I have done it by trial and error about 5 times on W123 and W201 cars. On a W123 made for the US you need a six hole connector plug to replace the 4 hole one you get. The six hole unit is what is on the rear lights for US cars (so go to a junk yard and get two rear light plug assemblies). The rest is a matter of figuring out which wire is the head light, high beam, parking light, and fog light. In Euro lights you get a "city" bulb which is a small bulb that merely lights the housing up and comes on when the parking lights are turned on. There is no line to power this on a US car, as there is no bulb in a US housing to light this way. So, the parking light line comes from the blinker connection which has the blinker and the parking light/corner marker. And then there is the vacuum aiming system. If you want to hook this up, you need to do another search as this has also been a hot topic in the last year. Good luck, Jim |
