Replacing temperature / pressure switches
I've heard that if these go bad, they can cause the AC compressor to not switch on. My question is, if I remove these switches, (the two round things near the receiver dryer) will freon shoot out? Thanks in advance

yep - you will want to evacuate the system prior to removing them.

Speedy,
Yes there are all sorts of problems that can occur "If a part goes bad." Why are you changing these switches? It is very rare for them to go bad. If your compressor is not kicking in, the switch is very likely doing its job properly. When the system gets low on refrigerant the low pressure switch prevents the compressor from coming on. This is because with low refrigerant, no oil circulates, thus your compressor would be destroyed. You need to do some more diagnosis before replacing parts because they might go bad. Good luck, |
