1985 300SD Newbie questions
At night is there a light that shows what gear the shifter is in?
If so where and how do I change the bulbs? Up by the front dome light there is a 1" square thing-a-m-jig, what is it? Thanks |
The light on my 1984 shifter is from the fiber optic bundle behind the climate contrl unit wood. The fiber optic bundle flattens out in the plastic on which PRND32 is inscribed. Yours shows the same set up in the MB parts catalog (EPC). That's the only shifter light.
The thing-a-m-jig is a grill for the intake of cabin air for temperature sampling for the climate control system "brain" (and I use the term loosely;...you'll see ;)) |
Thanks Jbaj007,
My shifter light doesn't light up at all. What do I need to replace or fix to fix it?:) Regards, |
I believe he is saying that you need to check behind the climate control panel. There is a bulb there that supplies light (by fiber optic cable) to many of the instrument panel lights. If most of your other dash lights are working then the bulb itself is likely good. Your problem is likely to be that one or more of the fiber optic cables has come loose.
