240D's vacuum system is leak free
I just had to share this with people who will appreciate it. I finally solved the last of the 240D's vacuum problems on Sunday. The repair I had made to the broken line in the driver's door did not hold, so I repaired it again, properly this time. The vacuum pod I bought from Fastlane for the trunk lock took care of the last of the locking problems.
But the climate control was still leaking. Yes, even the lowly 240D's "manual" controls rely partially on vacuum. Replacing a worn hose joining the vacuum line to one of the pods fixed that. The air conditioner even works better now that the air is being properly directed out the vents instead of the defroster. The system has held vacuum overnight for two nights now, so I feel justified in rejoicing. Yippee!

" even the lowly 240D's "manual" controls rely partially on vacuum. " Dang ! and they were SO close to Perfection !
I know you are enjoying getting that 240d ready for me to pick up... keep up the good work. But keep those trips to NY to a minimum.... I don't want them cutting into the fix up time on the car..... ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 1980 240D Manual |
