What is the configuration of the ACC heater core?

1984 300D ACC (Auto. climate control) heater core.

Anyone had one of these out or seen one that was out ?
Why is there one nipple on the driver side of the firewall and two on the passenger side ? Most vehicles of the past that I have worked on had a heater core with two openings...coolant goes in one side and out the other. I'm suspecting it has something to do with defrost/defog. Thanks.

The only one I have had out was my 81 300D Euro parts car. On that one there are two manual controls, one to regulate the passenger side heat, one for the drivers side.
I asked around to see if I could install the manual controls on my 300D with ACC? Could not find if that has the same system or not. Could have it though. Maybe those great engineers across the pond made it that complex? Used the ACC to contol passenger and driver side heat?
Na, not possible.
