Broke down and bought a new radiator

Bought it from Radiator Express. It was on the Yahoo search page when I did a search on Mercedes radiator.

All metal, "limited lifetime warranty", $164 plus tax and shipping to a total of $184. Ordered it yesterday AM, arrived today UPS.

Haven't tried to stuff it in yet, but so far so good.

Like a dream

The only issue during install was the "flange' on which the oil cooler attaches to the radiator was a little too big. It just made installation a little tricky, but it fit well and has worked great.

So how did you attached it. Did you find a different sized flange?
Thanks.

mine was weeping around the plastic to metal gasket.

I dropped 2 GM coolant tablets in the radiator, topped up the water and next day- no more problem!

I heard that MBUSA dropped the radiator prices drastically.. so I would call and get a dealer qoute too.

Brass/copper isn't as effiecent compared with Aluminum.

Not sure how in practice it works, but I'm in Texas. What works for many is not optimal for me in 102F!

Same attachment, it was just a little to have the mounting brackets loose enough to fit on the flange, but tight enough to stay in place to tighten.

Just a little tricky and maybe that is the case with other replacements as well. All ended well and the install was made with no modifications, just a little patience.
