Lower control arm bushing
 

The car is a 75 240D (115), the aligment shop was unable to tighten the camber/caster bolt. I try to review the removal procedure from my shop manual, but not able to find detail of removal/installation.

Can I loosen only the eccentric bolt, and remove/install with new bushings.

A local shop quoted $275 for each side + parts

If the car is like the 123, Mercedes likes to follow the same methods in their cars. You cannot remove the LCA mounting bolt, which is eccentric. without removeing the coil springs.. the eccentric bolt is the attachment and pivot point for the LCA. The other attachment point is the steering knuckle, which is attached to both the LCA and the UCA. If you release either one of these attachemnt points with the spring attached. The spring will force the LCA out with tremendous force. You need to remove the coil spring to replace the LCA bushings and nut/bolt assemble.

I believe the configuration is the same, I even compare the procedure with my 300E. If only the spring have to be remove, then it does not look too difficult.

But the car is in the shop, due to timing issue. I have to perpare to move from Houston to SF next week.

would recommend doing search on spring removal ,dangerous (Very) without proper spring compressor.......
