Unhappy Wife is going to KILL ME

Well maybe not that bad but.....the old 300D before the seals left the old ugly black oil on the concrete driveway. Anybody have any secrets to share about getting that cleaned up? I have purchaced almost everything sold at Lowes - best stuff was made by Quickcrete -but the stains are still their (black). Been there with Muratic acid and have tried my 2400psi power washer.

I tried to explain that you can't see it when the SDL is parked there. Ideas??

Greased Lightening
Castrol Super Clean
TSP

Are these Autozone/NAPA available products?

After scrubbing on it last night blacktop seemed like a good alternative.

I recommend painting the concrete black. That way any future drips won't show. If you don't think that's do-able, how about a nice bouquet of flowers? And practice looking really sorry

Very hard to get dried oil off. Much easier if you add something to it before it's had a chance to dry.

Asphalt

I sold the 300D in October - as long as I beat the other 1/2 home and parked the SDL over the "stain" life was good.

Happy Wife = Happy Life Need to join an asphalt forum

I heard from a friend that if you grind kitty litter into the stain with your foot then it gets a lot of the stain out, even if it's been there for a while.

I have yet to test the theory, but from looking at his Driveway (he drives an old Ford....) its safe to say it works.

I use the kitty litter on my drips, and it works pretty good. But I get at it fairly fast. Don't know how well it'll work on old stains.

1) Bring home a "project" mercedes to park over the stain.
2) Then you need another "project " to help the first one blend
into the surroundings.
3) Bring home three or four more mercedes for further camoflage.
4) When you get rid of a couple of these cars, she will be so happy that she will have forgotten about the original problem, and you will still have plenty of toys to play with.

Good Ideas!

I can see that there are some things to try thanks - some are interesting:

ericnguyen: did you read the fine print on that product?
Caution: Please be aware that there are live microbes in this product that will be killed if this product is frozen during transit. If you live in a cold climate, this product could freeze during shipping. It will not work as well if it becomes frozen.
-----------------------------
time: Yes this would be my ideal soloution. Wanted to recently buy an 82 300D on ebay that sold for $200 - that was strongly veto'd. Camoflauge ain't going to fly.
------------------------------
Capt Kirk: Yes the kitty litter/oil dry works well in the garage were the concrete has a smooth finish - The driveway has that brush rough tecture and does not perform the same.
----------------------------
I am probably doomed to a weekend of misery

you could try one of those high powered grease cutting dish detergents......

I'd imagine if left sitting there for a little bit, or scrubbed in in a sort of paste mixture (powder with a little water) then it would wok pretty well.

I'm just lucky that the powers have resigned themselves to a dirty looking driveway. (I think my dad took most of the flak in the early years of our DIY tinkerings)

I still say try renting a good commercial steam cleaner at your local rental agancy (if you have enough spots to justify the rental fee). I've removed all kinds of "guk" with those things, but never tried it for this purpose. May work great if nothing else does.
