eheh, Turbo Rebuilt

I got my Turbo back from the folks at Forced Perfomance this week and after putting it back in and a Valve adjustment (also fiddled with the throttle linkage) I'm glad to say my car is up to snuff once agian.

The rebuilt turbo is FUN. hehe I took it out for a little spin of the freeway, its hard to fathom the difference between what it was and what it is.

What exactly did they do? How much (if you don't mind)?

I've heard good things about Forced Performance from other enthusiasts.

Thanks,

the std rebuild is $300 which I got.

They take the Turbo apart and inspect everything, if it's rebuildable they tell you and if there's anything wrong that would require more than jsut the regualr rebuild.

Sounds great. I've heard good things about Forced Performance as well. When you got your turbo back, was it nice and shiny too?

Capt Kirk 06-06-2003 10:38 PM

yup :D

What was the turnaround time?

Capt Kirk 06-08-2003 02:25 AM

roughly a week

factor in shipping time for those not in the Dallas Area (Mckinney is Collin County's "capitol") then I'd imagine 2 weeks.

Thanks. Don't need this yet but I'm sure I will at some point. As my 93 approaches 250K I'm thinking of taking it off the road and going through it bumper to bumper. This would be on the list.

how tough is the turbocharger to remove and replace? Is this a DIY...wouldn't want to be stuck wtih rusted bolts that break off in the process?

How long did it take?

Capt Kirk 06-09-2003 01:18 AM

It's VERY DIY.

only thing you might want to invest in is WD-40 if your bolts are rusty.

4 bolts actually hold the turbo in palce (to the exhaust manifold) but you need to disconnect it from the oil feed line (not the oil drain line, that can stay on until it's out of the car) and from the Down pipe (3 nuts)

Looking at the Turbo area it's really straight-forward

How about a phone number or website address for Forced Performance?
