Extra vacuum tube mystery?
81 300D. Today I replaced my clock with a "new" one from the slavage yard. It works like new. However, while I was replacing the panel I noticed a black vacuum tube extending about 12 inches inside the firewall hole. It is connected to nothing and will not reach anything. There were no other loose connections in sight. I traced it back to a three way connector that goes to a gizmo on top of the injection pump close to the oil filter.
The puzzling part is that everything works. Has anyone encountered this? I cannot figure out what this tube is supposed to operate. Any ideas?

There is a white valve on the injector pump. This valve has one point of connection on top (for vacuum) and one point of connection on the side. The side connection is where the line that feeds through the firewall hooks up too. It does not connect to anything in the cabin, but is there to provide a source of clean air to the valve.

Bigred,
Thanks for the quick reply. You put my mind at ease. Now I can enjoy checking the time on my "new" clock. Later,
