Joseph:
STP oil treatment will do nothing besides raise the oil pressure. Skip it. I suspect your lack of power has more to do with a leaking boost signal line. Trace the white plastic line from the rear of the intake manifold to the ALDA on the injection pump. Check all the rubber hoses for condition -- they must be flexible and not sticky, and the little clamps must be good. Also, check that the overboost switchover valve isn't leaking (disconnect the boost control line at the manifold and blow down it -- if you hear air escaping from the switchover, replace it). The banjo bolt at the manifold gets plugged, too. Finally, if the boost control system appears to be working, do you get some black smoke out the tailpipe at full throttle? If not, you probably need to adjust the ALDA. Do a search, there are several good threads. Peter

Joseph..........,
Did you change the oil yourself or get it done by the quickie oil change master mechanics? Check all the vacuum and other lines in the area of the oil filter, especially the lines to and from the overboost sensor, manifold and ALDA. One of these lines may have been disconnected when changing the oil filter. P E H |
