Removing the Throttle Linkage
I am trying to remove the throttle linkage on my 77 240D so I can adjust the valves. It seems to me there must be a trick to this, so I thought I'd ask the assembled multitude if anyone know the best way to do it.
The linkage seem unnecessarily complex, but who am I to question the elves who designed this thing. M. |
I saw that on my bastard MB that the linkage there by the valve cover was held onto it's shaft by a C clip. I know you have multituge more levers and arms than my rig but Im guessing the mount systems are simular. Pry off the ball and socket type with a twist of a screw driver. Seems to work better for the socket sorta rolls off the side of the ball that way instead of trying to pop it off dead center.
Look for C clips and push them out out also with a twist in a slot of the C or something to that affect. Once it's out some then pull with needle nose. Keep your eyes open and go steady so you dont loose the C clip. |
It will pry apart very nicely with a 10 mm open end wrench:p
