How Do U Install "euro" lights? W123
I just found a pair of Bosch euro-lights! I'm sure I can easily secure them to the car, but I don't know how to go about with the electrical connection, since the Euro and U.S. plugs are different. Please contact me if you have done it before. This is for a MB W123.

300cd79,
I believe this is a subject that a member has detailed on the board before, so if you do a search you will find some detailed instructions on how to rearrange the sockets in the plug to make the lights work as intended. First though, you need to go to a junk yard and harvest two rear light plugs. The Euro lights have a six prong plug while the US ones have a four prong plug. The rear lights have the necessary six prong female plug. Next you need to decode which lines are head lights, high beams, fog lights, "parking lights" or running lights on the corners and which are blinkers. The search I suggested I think will bring up a diagram. The Euro lights include a small bulb people have dubbed "city light" that basically just lights up the enclosure with the main head lights/high beams at a low level. Europeans use this when headlights are not necessary for illumination, but you want the tail lights, side markers and, for them, the head light enclosure lit. It looks cool and you will need to jumper that from the side marker light on your car. Good luck, Jim |

Finished
I looked at the threads, contacted all the electrical, and on the first try everything worked as it should. Thanks everybody.:)

A picture would be nice if possible; Eurolights might be a consideration on my 300CD in the future :)

No Problem
I'll post a few pictures, just give me some time. Euro lights without a doubt bring a much sleeker, more established look to W123's. I'll post some day pictures in about an hour, and later some night pictures with the euro's on.

This '79 300CD is currently for sale, it's mechanicaly perfect, and the condition is obviously pretty good. PM or E-mail me if your interested or simply have a question. If you don't like the Euro's I would gladly change back the U.S. lights. (I'm selling it only because I need a car that can hold large cargo). If I don't sell it I'll pass it down to my sister.

Hey Mike,
Thanks for the pictures! The Euros without a doubt give a much better look to the W123's; especially when the plastic surrounding the lights are all cracked, even though you can just replace that piece, the Euros give it a little something more. It would be more than an honor to give my 123 Coupe a chance to wear a pair of 'em but can't afford them at the moment. Just for the moment I might consider replacing the headlight doors, just so I can live without the awful cracks and later add the Euros. |
LOL
Well I was pretty lucky since I found my euro's at a wrecking yard. They cost me $60 for the pair! If I ever find another pair, I'll contact you.

Thanks
Hey Mike,
That works for me. :) You got those things pretty cheap, and they look so darn good, great deal! |
