I'm back!

I couldn't stay away for too long. I just got off the phone with Bill Wood and Jim Smith - everything seems to be resolved. My post count starts at zero again but oh well. What a confusion!! It's good to be back!

At least you updated your signature.

Is the mileage correct on the SDL at 321,000 miles?

I'm counting on you to keep racking up the miles on this car. You are my guinea pig.

I tell people all the time that I know a guy who has an aluminum head, 6-cylinder Mercedes diesel with over 300,000 miles on it...

Congratulations!

I was starting to think that things had gotten too bad and you had decided not to come back. Glad to see that that didn't happen.

Well it almost did but I couldn't stay away for long

Yes the mileage is correct at 321,000. Although, I have not been driving it for the last month as I put 6,000 miles on the Crown Vic.. probably going to sell the 300SDL soon..

6,000 in a month isn't hard, I put 10,000 in a month on my truck (F350), 12,000 in 6 weeks. I didn't do all the driving but I was always in it.

John,

Welcome back.

Thought you left because I didn't buy your 300SD (kidding)

Actually, I ended up buying a 1996 Jetta, bright red, because it is a 3rd car for the kids to drive, in this case primarily for my daughter.......and subsequently my wife as she loves to drive it as well. It is the ultimate chick car. I guess my diesel involvement will be just for me and not a third car for the kids to drive.........no one but me likes the diesels.

Anyway,,,,,glad to have you back.

JCD

PS, there must be a way to restore your post count.....you are not a Junior member.

off topic but, jcd, you should like the 96 jetta. we have had one since new. very little to maintain, a peppy little engine and a
safe solid german car.
they do eat tires somewhat though (frontwheel drive) but great in the snow.
is yours a 5spd?
