Diesel Fuel Pump

Just wondering how to test a diesel fuel pump for propper performance. Is there a pressure check that can be done?
Thanks

Has to come off and be installed on a test bench to get meaningful data. Will cost about $250 plus removal and installation.

What makes you think there is something wrong with the IP? There are a number of simpler things that will cause poor performance that don't have anything to do with IP internal operations, and are MUCH cheaper to fix....

Jens_Benz,

Do you mean the injection pump or the fuel lift pump or the fuel pump at the filling station.

You must be more specific to get correct answers.

I am looking for the fuel pump - mounted on the side of the injection pump. I suspect it is less than perfect shape, but before I spend $200 to replace it, I would like to check it. Is there a pressure test that can be run? How about a volume test - i.e. so many liters of fuel at idle?
Thanks
