Castrol RX 15W40

Using this diesel rated oil in my 240D, and so far it hasn't burned a drop....

Anyone have any experience with this?

Three MB diesel mechanics I talked to say they use this oil. It is CH4 rated.

As you could proably gather from your first response, there has been a lot of talk about oil on this forum. Try the search function and see what you find. Welcome aboard!!

If it's CH-4 rated, it will be fine. If mineral oil based, plan to change about 3000 miles, if synthetic base, change at 6000 or so.

Happy dieseling!

Castrol RX 15-40

Have tried it in both turbo OM 616 and normaly aspirated Hino and my experience with it has been mixed. In winters the oil didnt dilute much but in summers at around 45c it got pretty thin. Also the consumption went up on the turbo. I use Gulf XDMO SAE 40 and till date find it extremely stable for summer and even for winters it isnt that bad.

Thumbs up castrol 15/40

Greetings Kyle,

Now I am a married man!.........again

Responding from down here in South Carolina in THE BLACK BOMBER!!!!!!!!!running like a champ at 90 all day

The castrol Heavy Duty oil that you have been using will be an EXCELLENT choice for you.

I have been running EXCLUSIVELY castrol dino oils in my autos for the past twenty five years or so.

After getting THE BLACK BOMBER, I was educated about diesel specific oils and have used the 15/40 castrol Heavy Duty oil with nothing but happiness. kind of like with my wife

See 'ya,
spo out
