Cargo rack question..

Are there any type of luggage/cargo racks (like that on the 300TD wagons) that can be mounted on a W123 Benz Sedan just to use for hauling general stuff, tying stuff down etc?

Kyle,

I put a roof rack from Cavalier SW on my 300SD. It has chrome strips to protect the roof. It was easy to put on, just used sheet metal screws. The sun roof still works too.

I use it to take a spare winter tire along when we take our annual FL, LA trip. Should we hit a blizzard on the way home, I have 2 winter tires to put on the rear axle if needed.

Maybe you can find one in a junk yard. BTW, thats about the only good part on a Cavalier.

R Leo,

Yes its so, sheet metal screws in the roof. But this is in my beater/winter car that I actually bought as a parts car. In a year or 2 it will be a real parts car so the sheet metal screws won't make any difference.

Then the roof rack will get moved to my '78 300SD, another beater/winter car.

I wouldn't put a roof rack on my good 300Sd or 300SDL. I use a small tralier if I don't have enough room in the car.
