Making your own fuel

Around here at least I have checked w/ several burger joints etc. that have tanks in the ground (or grease buckets in the dump area) where thay dump cooking oil residue. They are under contract to a oil reclamation tank company near St. Louis (on the Illinois side) nearly 150 miles away. They SELL this oil to this company. If there's anyone giving this oil away in my area I sure haven't found them.

I bought the book "From the Fryer to the tank" by Josh Trickell and by the time you pay for oil (if you have a FREE source consider yourself lucky) buy or make the equipment and buy additives to keep oil free flowing you're really not saving much money. If you have saved money doing this would like to know your secret. Joe

No free lunch or fuel either...

You should check at the smaller 'mom-n-pop' restaurants for oil...preferably the smaller CHINESE restaurants.

Around here, I can easily collect more than I can burn.

Go here for access to inexpensive filtering methods (in particular, search for postings from 'danalinscott':

soy diesel

The local Amoco station sells soy diesel which I use most of the time. There are a number of farmer/entreprenuers in the area promoting its use and some are holding meetings trying to build their own cooperative soy diesel plant. I'm sure most of us applaud their efforts.
