anyone have any idea what the labor rate is to replace timing chain and all rails in a 1992 turbo diesel 2.5 5 cyl?
looks like i can get the parts needed on fast lane for about 200 bux but was wondering how many hours in labor or if anyone has recently had one done what did it hit your wallet for? im sure not too many shops appreciate you bringing parts to them either.

I don't know about labor costs in your area, but I recently did this and it took me ~2-3 hours, but I'm a DIY'er and took probably longer than a shop (also did start of delivery and valve-lash adjustments in that time period since the Valve cover was off). If you plan on doing this yourself, you might want to first find a MB dealer or a motorcycle shop that rents a double chain master-link crimping too; so you don't get stuck later.

I just had my chain replaced on my 92 300D. I think I paid about $350. I do most of my own work, but didn't want to fiddle with the chain.
