I just picked up a BEUTIFUL 82 300D. My 1st MB and 1st diesel. The car is in great shape. It has 123K miles. Everything works great except the automatic transmission. It works but is not smooth when shifting. Any suggetions on where a newbie like myself would start looking for a cause and solution?

the usual - do a search. much material. i too have a rough shifting 300dt. my solution, time the shift with your foot. smoothes things out considerably.

Does it shift quickly? jerk when it shifts? between what gears?

As janko said, do a search and you can save yourself alot of time waiting for replies from members here.
