Transporting car cross country

My girlfriend is going to Nursing school on the right coast and needs to transport her car from the left coast.

Does anyone have good experience with any of the car transportation companies?

Thanks for any help.

Don't forget to check ocean freight companies. If she is and is going to be near a port, they may be less expensive.

I've heard good things about Dependable Auto Shipping. I was going to use them to get my 300D from Dallas to the Bay Area before I decided to just fly out there and drive it back (didn't want to buy it sight unseen).

I was quoted $500 to get it from Texas to California, so I would guess it'd be a bit less than double that to get to the Atlantic Coast.

Another option... ROOOOOOAAAAAAAAAAAD TRRRIIIIIIIIIIIIPPPP!!

:D :D :D

I've used DAS -- no probs. Smooth transaction, competitive pricing, all around great company.

check Hemmings

Christophe,

I have heard many recommendations in the past to check Hemmings (either the web site or magazine). Many transporters list there and you may find someone in your geography. One of the key factors is timing. The more flexible you are the cheaper the price.

I have used Dependable 3 times

I have used Dependable Auto Shippers 3 times. Once NY to LA, then LA to NY and the last time shipping my 300 TD from FL to NY. Each time a very positive experience. I recommend them highly. Ask for "top load" which means your car will be on the top rack and no other cars will be leaking oil on your paint.

How much $ are you talking for shipping a car across country. My Dad sold car for years and when he retired he delivered cars, seemed like a fun retirement job if you enjoy driving.

Thanks

Thanks for the input.

Dependable Auto Shippers quoted a price of $850 from San Francisco to Baltimore. Seems like an ok price.

Yeah, I would drive myself but I can't take the time away from work. Oh well.

All my best.

All things considered, that seems cheap. I have never driven across country but if you were able to sight see a little (take your time), stay in OK to nice motels or B&Bs you might spend $850.00. You would have 2+K MORE miles on her. OK, I can see why people don't make a living delivering cars (driving them).
