Does Leatherique benefit MB Tex?

I was about to order the leatherique and cleaner from Rusty but he didn't think it would do much in softening the MB Tex. My 83 has rather hard Tex which I don't like, what can I do about it? Will the leatherique be any good for the MB Tex?

Thanks,

Dear BoostnBenz:

I'm pretty sure that leatherique would not make your MB-Tex any better. Buy something that's tailored for vinyl.

No. Best thing for Tex is Vinylex, from the makers of Lexol.

Will the Vinylex soften it or just clean it? I've used Simple Green in the past to clean the MB tex, headliner, and pillars, it seems to work well.

From the Lexol web site: "Vinylex Protectant cleans and protects with a patented, one-step formula that actually nourishes vinyl, rubber and plastic surfaces. It actually penetrates below the surface layer to nourish and revitalize underlying plasticizers, thereby reducing cracking."

It is expensive, at about $9 a bottle, but it does work very well. It worked wonders on the seat and door panels I got from the junkyard. For cleaning stubborn stains, I found the product to work best with a scrub brush. Wipe with a paper towel, then follow with another application.

If you spray on a heavy application and let it soak, then yes I think it will help soften the material.

Ok so it should soften it up a little bit, great, I'll give it a try. That is cheap compared to the 303 I bought, that stuff is nice but after the first or second use the bottle got lost somewhere. Thanks for all the replies everyone, maybe I'll dig this back up after I give it a try to report my results.
