unwanted road trip
 

On wendseday I will be taking a road trip that no-one ever wants to take. I will pack up the benz with my valuables and my dog and evacuate from Knotts Island as huricane Isabelle nears. Most other residents will be doing the same. At a block party last nite the consensous was that upon our return our quaint community will be forever changed. Electricity will probably be out for at least 10 days, which won't be a problem if we have houses to come back to.

I do take comfort that I will be in the benz with my 'mans best friend'. I will update when I can.

Good Luck and be careful. Those hurricanes are rough. You are doing the correct thing. I've sat through a couple of small ones and I won't do that again. Ever!

Isabel probably won't be as bad as advertized ..
They rarely are when they're this over-hyped ..
Down to 105 MPH and no 'eye' and will be moving into
colder water at a slow forward speed .. all good things for
a weakening system if and when landfall occurs :cool:

I was prepared earlier to evacuate, then I saw it moving North. I lived thru Andrew and I won't do that again.

Next time a big one comes, I board up, take the family in my car and get the hell outta dodge at least 3 days prior, to avoid the rush.

For what it's worth, if you have those clip on shutters, it makes the process a whole lot easier.

Went through Floyd myself, not too bad but not something I would want to do on a regular basis. I think the hurricane party hurt more than the actual storm. If anyone has ever drank a hurricane, they will know what I mean. The alcoholic equivelant to a mugging. Expensive and makes your head hurt.
