1984 300SD Windshield Wipers

My wiper mechanism has come loose from the drive motor. The wipers stopped in mid-wipe, and the motor can be heard running. I started to look into repairing them, but don’t know exactly how to get the wiper arms off of the drive spindles. Are they just a press fit on a splined shaft? I didn’t see any screws or fasteners of any kind. There is a c-clip at the base of the spindle, but it doesn’t appear that it would allow the arms to be removed. I wanted to ask before I put a puller on them. Once they are removed, it looks like I just need to remove the plastic cover at the base of the windshield to get to the motor.

I would appreciate anyone’s advice
