1981 240d alternator pulley

Does anyone have a source where I can get an alternator pulley. PO put an aftermarket alt. on and didn't swap pulleys so now it's eating up my belts. I'm on my second one in 1000 miles and I don't want to change it again, PIA for me. I've seen 300d pulleys down to 1983 on web but not 240's, are they interchangeable?

'81 240d Alternator pulley

Sorry Leathermag, don't have digital camera. I could probably take a regular picture and have drug store convert it for me. The problem is the alt. pulley is too narrow for the belt, it sticks up above pulley,it's level on all the other pulleys. Do you need the picture to see if a 300d pulley will fit? Actually it just came to me if I research alt.belt size for 300d and if it matches 240d I should be able to use 300d pulley.

I guess I was just thinking of the things that can go wrong.. have you checked to see what the shaft/pulley interface is like.... is it a keyed taper like the power steering pulley shaft.... or flat .... or ?
There may be a reason he did not swap them out... don't want you to have more expense or aggravation than necessary....

At our local pick and pull, the whole alternator would be less than $20. I'd just replace the whole alternator with a used one.
