Update on "new" 84 300DT

SUCCESS !
Background - I purchased another 84 300DT the first of this month, much better shape car than my other 84. Problem was, it was a DOG off the line . I posted my problem here and received advise on what to do (as usual ). The items suggested were - throttle linkage, filters, ALDA, and vacuum lines. Filters were new according to PO and they looked it so I didn't bother with them and the car would take off after the engine reached around 2100 RPM so I didn't suspect fuel blockage. I adjusted the throttle linkage per the Mercedes shop manual (out of adjustment considerably), cleaned the vacuum line and banjo fitting (partially blocked), checked the control valve on the firewall (OK), turned ALDA CCW 3/4 turn, and replaced broken hose between the intake manifold and the wastegate. SWMBO said "let's go check it out". And - Hot Dog , this puppy flies ! I would not have belived the difference if I had not witnessed the before and after performance! I don't know which of the above was the problem, I suspect some of each. What a joy this old girl is to drive! I probably will use "Green-go" as a parts car as "Silver Bulllet" is a much better car and "Green-go" has lots of good parts on it.

I can't thank the people enough on this forum for your help.

I now need to fix the odometer (know what to do, did this on my 71 280SE), fix the cruise control (studying the archives for info), change all fluids just so I know what is in there and enjoy!!

Thanks
Jerry

I just purchased a 82 300D and am putting her in shape, just like you. I did the banjo bolt, fuel filters, and will be tweaking the ALDA next. My question is how to you check if the control valve is working?
Thanks,
Drew

Someone correct me if I'm wrong but it should be open unless overboost tells the valve to close, limiting fuel to the pump. My valve had a small amount of crud in it, took it off the firewall and shot brake cleaner thru it and it cleaned up OK.
