front end sitting high after alignment

What could cause the front end of my 82 300D to sit high after a front end alignment? I did put on new shocks and one tie-rod end before the job was done, but I'm pretty sure that new shocks wouldn't raise it by about 3 inches. Any ideas?? (the car was sitting pretty even before all the work was done) Thanks...

Do you know exactly what was done?

The only thing I can think that would raise the ride height would be changing to thicker spring pads. Even then It wouldn't raise the car to the degree in which you described. Take the car back and have them identify the problem.

good luck

Funny you should mention sitting high after a front end alignment. I had my "79" 240d done a couple of weeks ago and noticed it seemed to sat high in the bow when I got home. I had actually forgotten about it and shes back to "normal" . So I have not a clue but let us know in a week or so.

Maybe the bolts for the lower control arms were tightened while the car was in the air for some reason? No idea what kind of comedy of errors would have to take place to allow this to happen, but it would definitely explain the nose high attitude.

I thought I was just mistaken when it happened to me. I replaced the starter on my 77 300d over the weekend. I jacked up the front to do this. When I let it back down, the front end was higher. I haven't looked at it again yet since my wife drives it but I thought it was quite odd on Sunday.

I'm going to give this about 2 weeks of driving to see if the nose settles down, I'll let the list know what happens..

I had the opposite happen noticeably, I had the front end of the 84 off the ground for a week or so but when I dropped it back down the rear was still sagging like it wasn't unloaded. It came back somewhat but never all of the way.
