miles
The W124 is trying to seduce me into believing it "only" has 167,000
(With the Odometer) The W126 had 250,000 on it.'last I saw it in the Sunshine state. (But that was 1995) |
269K and I'm shooting for 1/2M Kilometers which is about 310K miles if I recall. It's been an excellent car with the exception of the Heating/Air Conditioning system which has always been a cruel joke for MB owners (at least through '92!!) I've gotten much less picky now that most repairs exceed the value of the car, but it keeps on giving and never asks for much. I've never been concerned about taking it on long trips.

My 1997 E300d has 264,500 miles, my 2000 Passat 1.8t has 279,000 miles. The Passat, a gasser, is still on original Turbo and Clutch.. I am getting ready to get timing belt done for 3rd time.

1995 E300D 243k miles. Love this car. Have to replace ball joints and bushings, fix a few other issues, but love this car. Even with the miles that it has achieved, it still rides much better than most of the new vehicles on the road today. It's really an excellent vehicle.

Look at my sig... All my cars are pretty high mileage. The 300SDL just went to 302K The timing chain was replaced about 130,000 miles ago and so I am getting ready to do it again - other than that it is all maintenance stuff I just did the front end and will be doing the trans fluid and filter this week Everything in the car is as it was from the factory.
The BMW is now up around 270k and is getting ready for a timing belt/water pump (every 50,000 miles) It is on it's second transmission after the original blew it's front seal and leaked all over the place. The Chevy is hitting 160k and has had the following done : fuel pump, fuel injector spider, two computers, crank spark module, brakes twice and front drive actuator. Man they build those Chevy's well ;) The Jeep is still factory original with only 22k miles on it. The 232 ci six is still tight and runs great and it is on it's original clutch and everything else. I had to replace hoses and belts due to rot. I LOVE my SDL and plan on keeping it for at least another 20 years or until they outlaw Diesels... |
My 84 is at 246,000 and still running strong. Doesn't use a drop of oil between changes. Starts up immediately. A bit of blow by but not bad. Rattles the cap good but doesn't push it up much at all.
I have changed the Alternator, Radiator, all hoses and practically every rubber bit in the front suspension, rebuilt calipers, new motor mounts and shock and flex disc and changed the Transmission fluids. Normal age related and normal maintenance stuff really. The PO had converted the AC but it works well. The automatic HVAC works as it should, All windows and sunroof work, Locks work, all lights work. Cruise works and even the clock works! Problems existing is the Temp gauge is wonky (even after changing the sender so its in the gauge pod) it reads correctly about half the time and then will jerk up and read 10C higher than actual sometimes. And the power antenna doesn't work. Original paint. Only rust it had was the spot under the battery which I fixed. Mostly all it needs is some interior work mainly I need to rebuild the drivers seat and fix that cloth covering the door seals. Need to refinish my wheels too. It was a NC car that was first leased to a Gentleman in Charlotte. Then sold to a Lady in SC who owned it most of its life. A third owner had it for about 6 months and had a penchant for collecting them. He had three and I bought this one from him before he did much too it. http://i142.photobucket.com/albums/r...B300Dbling.jpg |
W201 - 247K - Original Engine Intact
My '86 W201 602.911 - 247,443 - Still running strong with original engine intact. Replaced alternator, starter, radiator, calipers, AT flex connectors under the radiator, oil filler cap, (swapped with fuel filler cap) driver side seat cover (with aftermarket leather - cheaper than genuine MB-tex)
Little blow-by, nothing major. Cranks smooth, runs smooth. Uses about 1/2 quart of oil between 6K mi oil changes. Still have some cosmetic stuff to fix like the combination switch, (wipers work only on "momentary," blows a fuse if I try the washers) heater blower motor, troubleshoot the vacuum door-locks, convert sunroof to "manual" and re-install headliner. Basic stuff really, keeps my wife from driving it :) I went to my dealer fill out the form to get my badge - didn't know you could download the form for it here. You still have to have the dealer manager or asst. manager sign off on the mileage. Past 89K has been on B99 and Pennzoil synthetic 5W30. She's my hobby car and my work car. 42MPG HWY, 35 MPG City (on B99) http://a835.ac-images.myspacecdn.com...9438e1b992.jpg |
313,000 and counting!
1985 300 D Turbo |
84 300D- 285k miles. Uses no oil between changes. Although if you looked at the underbody you'd think it had to leak at least a quart every few hundred miles!

Resurrection of a five year old thread that was a resurrection of a seven year old thread? Why not just start a new one? Odd.
|
why don't I pull all the "high mileage" threads and tie them together!

Purchased from the original elderly owner who could no longer drive it. When my indy had it up on the lift the first thing he said was "this thing has had alot of love". Original owners rarely keep a car for 30 years without taking care of them. According to the records only the wear and tear items have been taken care of. I recently had my indy replace Air cleaner mounts/bracket Front ball joints and one control arm Shocks Turbo return lines A/C service Everything on the car works including the cruise control. The car has leather and as you can see from the photos the original "California Emission control" sticker attached to the rear window. It is not a daily driver now that I'm living in Dubai but I would not hesitate to drive it across the country if I had to. |
