badge question

Ok, so here is a totally irrelevant and superflous question for you. I have read of badges for a car that reaches a particular milage. What's the deal on them?

My '85 will have 250k miles within the next month and I have _seen_ a 250k Kilometer badge. Just wondering what the deal is.

There are three badges;
250,000 Kilometers (156,000 miles)
500,000 Kilometers (311,000 miles)
1MM Kilometers (622,000 miles)

Mercedes gives these free after the owner fills out a form and has the mileage attested to by a Mercedes Dealer. You can get the form by calling 1-800-FOR-BENZ

Note: they will ask for the VIN. And if a previous owner got the badge you're looking for; you’re out of luck.

I got both my 250K and 500K badges. When I e-mailed for my window sticker I included the VIN and they sent me the high milage form saying I was eligable for one.

When I brought mine to the dealer (Jackie Cooper Imports), both times the shop manager just signed the papers. He didn't even get out of his chair! I could have had 100K miles and he woulden't have had a clue.

So you can get a copy of your original window sticker, too? Would that be some customer service email address at MB?

I have the 250,000 Km badge on my 240D. You might as well send away for it because it is free and looks quite nice on the front of your Benz's grill.

I have a badge on the grill of my 79 240D but I think all it says is something like "MB USA". I will go and check later. Here in Tacoma Wa we are currently under the onslaught of a massive rain storm. Close to 4.4 inches in the last 12 hours. It may rain a lot in Washington but this is really WET. I am on my third change of clothing and second set of rain gear for the day.

Anyone got a pic of a mileage badge?

Don't bother e-mailing them, they will just tell you this:

"Please submit your request for a window sticker in writing including proof
of ownership to our Customer Assistance Center at 3 Paragon Drive,
Montvale, NJ 07465 to the attention of Customer Relations."

I have the stuff ready to mail out, I just havent gotten around to it. As soon as I do, I shall post some pictures of it.
