Muffler got damaged....
last night leaving the world series. There was not enough parking so people were parking on the shoulder of the expressway onramp.
Anyway, it was sort of shallow in spots and I damaged my muffler. It separated from the rest of the front exhaust system, right in the front of the muffler. Took it to Midas and they put a new one on for 90.00 Sorry for the long story but, will this Midas muffler be any worse than the former one? The car runs fine, I really didn't want to spend $300.00 if the end result is the same. The only physical difference I see is that the old muffler had two tailpipes(one for show?) and the new one only has one. Did I mess up?

It will last about 25,000 miles or two years, and then you will need another one. Save your pennies and get the proper one next time. New Benz OEM will last 15 years unless you are in the upper part of the rust belt.

Thanks. Like I said, it happened yesterday and I couldn't get the OEM early enough to get in done today. Midas was cheap and expediant. Can't very well drive around for 2 days with my muffler hanging on the ground.
![]() Actually, I got a "lifetime" warranty on the muffler. ![]()

I got my 1985 300D Tuubo muffler replaced at Midas over 10 years ago and it is still good. So yours should be ok. I don't think you need an OEM muffler.
