300SDL your input appreciated

Here's a nice looking 300SDL that I may be interested in. It was on ebay recently but the sale was not complete. They are selling for $6000. and I wonder if you would care to comment on it or if anyone is nearby (Tampa, FL), you might be interested in taking a look on my behalf.

I looks nice and clean but I have yet to find out details such as service records/history and such. Here's the link:

Thank you!

As far as pictures go it looks nice. Just a few small $$ items, floor mats, front access cover, headlight frames. Hopefully someone can take it for a spin for you - SDL's are sweet.

I might be able to stop by there Wednesday after work. If it happens, I'll post back here.

Thanks all for the quick comments! Thanks Rick for the offer to look at it. I just spoke with MB Tampa and it sounds nice, but also sounds like it needs some body and paint work. Some rust bubbles and apparently someone keyed the thing. No sign of any maintenance records or books either. Sounds like they got an average car and cleaned it up for sale.

All things being equal, it's probably not worth the trip to FL from MA for this one. Thanks just the same!

FWIW, it's being auctioned through AutoTrader right now.

Actually, I'm kinda surprised they even have that car on the lot. I've never seen anything that old or that low priced there. I looked at their used card a couple times in the late 90s and never found anything under $20K.

Do you still want me to go look at it? It's a little out of the way and I have no interest in a W126, but I would go look for someone here who's interested.

Thank you so much Rick, but I'll save you and me both the time and effort on this one. I don't think it's going to be anything special, and with no records and a bunch of bodywork, it's not going to be for me.
Thanks again!!

If you're in the market for an SDL, my uncle has an 86 300SDL for sale, Black Pearl/Grey interior. 170k miles, runs like new but has some rust.. he's selling it real cheap. E-mail me if you're interested.

Thanks Turbodiesel-
I almost bought a really clean 420SEL recently, but something in my mind told me to keep looking for the right SDL. So I'm still watching for the right one. My ideal car would have lots of records and no rust. Rust just drives me nuts! My own car is a beauty except for these little minor rust spots that give me a complex.
