Florida car, too. Gorgeous color combo with some type of AMG rims. Offered by a Mercedes-Benz dealership.

It is a beautiful car, but it does say in the description the following:
Odometer Not Working. True Mileage Unknown

At least the guy is honest.

Six cylinder

Looks like a beautiful car. But isn't the six cylinder diesel the one that self destructs with bent rods and such?

That was the 3.5-6. This is the 3.0-6.

No, that's the infamous 350 SDL.

Yes, but what makes it complicated is that the 3.5 liter engine was first used in 1992 in the 300SD, and continued in 1993 as the same. The name was changed to S350 in the fall of 1993 for model year 1994 cars.

i was gunna say first, but offender was way too quick, my dad's got a 1991 350SD.

and it did self destruct after about 60k miles by making a lunch of its timing chain.

I called about the car. It's a repaint and the guy says the A.C. works at about 75% We agreed it's probably the evaporator core and a big repair job.
I'm tempted, but I bet it needs 4K worth of repairs to bring it up to snuff.

Right, so you're agreeing with me, and adding two more years, 1990 and 1991.

The point I was making is that what makes it difficult is that there are certain model years that were badged as 300SD or 300SDL that had the 3.5 liter engine. The badging would lead someone to believe that the car has the 3.0 liter engine, whereas in reality, it has the "rod bending" 3.5 liter "grenade" engine.

Salesman told me a.c worked at 75% efficiency, he thought evap. core and I agreed. What do you think it could be?

I'm going to the boat show and might look at the car this weekend.

Maybe I should be more serious if it's a cheaper repair than a core job. It was a dealer trade to his dealership and I almost think it could be one where they gave him a big qoute for repairs and he just traded.

I am suprised a MB dealer is willing to sell that car and not just simply wholesale it.
Most of the dealers I have seen would not a touch a car with questionable mileage and even if they sell a car that old on their lot it has 40K miles and is a 1 owner vehicle.

Well it didn't sell on e-bay. Maybe it's a good time to call and offer the dealer $2.5K. Only if he throws in the simulated sheep-skins for the rear Wonder who got the original wheels for that car?
