I'm looking at an 85 Euro 300TD. This one doesn't have the rub strips that go with the luggage rack. Normal? Possible repaint and/or bodywork? Carfax shows ok from 90 on. No records prior.

I have a '82 300TD which is also without the "rub strips" between the roof rails. This car is all original, so I thing the strips were an optional extra. Mine doesn't have the cross bars either.

Thanks for the reply. This one doesn't have the cross rails, either. I'm, currently, having the car checked by a mechanic. One less item to worry about.
