1992 300SD rough idle once in a while

Hello. I Also have 1992 300SD and the minute I start the vehicle it works perfect, but once in a while the rpm's jump up and down (for about 2 sec) and then it works perfect again.
What can this be?
Thank you
Steven

That engine (OM603.971) has a computer controlled idle speed actuator on the injection pump. It's possible that a bad connection is allowing an intermittent fluctuation in idle speed. Otherwise, it would be very hard to diagnose without more information...

Glow plugs only operate at cold start - they have nothing to do with idle speed after the first minute after a cold start. Injection timing won't do it either. A bad injector is another possibility, or a leaking seal inside the injection pump.
