I don't understand why it is so hard to come up with true, complete yes/no answers to adjusting the OM617 IP. Nobody can find a manual on the IP, the MB FSM does not go into deatil of IP adjustment, and nobody can seem to document even taking off the panel of one!
I bet if sombody will take the time to go by a fairly large diesel injection shop, they would be happy to give you a photocopy of the full-load adjustment procedure (With a little begging, promising not to misuse it, and $$$ ;) ) I know we have the OM603 IP picture, but I bet dollars to doughnuts they are not exactly alike and somebody will F-up their pump by turning the wrong screw using the 603 diagram. |
Here's your 617 injection pump.
Enjoy! Sorry, unlike other forums, it won't let me post the pdf. :furious3: |

Click on 07 Diesel Injection System Click on 07.1-010 Operation Injection Pump with Governor (this opens pdf file) Also see this adjustment procedure for an OM352--very different engine, but does discuss the caveats about installing a correct pyrometer PRIOR to turning up the fuel volume: http://www.unimog-forever.com/Grease/Diesel-Talk/eDiesel.htm |
Thanks for those links......

There's some JPGs of a Bosch book with some interesting info in this thread:
http://www.***************/forum/showthread.php?t=196 (post #5) And, in this thread there is a link to a photo of an OM617.95x pump with the rear cover removed - the only picture I've seen: http://www.***************/forum/showthread.php?t=30 (post #16) |
Looks like other links have been posted.
Thanks... |
An informative thread on Injector pumps......

Yeah there isnt a definate answer as to where the EXACT location is on the 617 pump....what will I adjust?
|
Although we're not 100% sure yet, it sure looks like (from the photo & Bosch manual info I linked to above), that the adjustment is in the middle vertically, on the right side, in the photo with the rear plate removed. That's the hex-nut looking thingy with, I believe, a setscrew of some sort in the middle.
:) |
Well hopefully someone will answer this soon enough......
|
I think someone will need to print that photo, take it to a Bosch shop, and ask them nicely "which widget adjusts the full-load fuel delivery"?
:D :D |

check the enclosed pic for my question...

Bingo. That's the one I *think* is the 617 full load screw. (But I'm not positive!)
