Number 3 seems to be the max load screw.
About pump modifications, I think that no one in US does that, and as the shop I use has long experience with these pumps I would totally change my pump there. The modifications include 7 mm elements to the pump (orig. 5.5 mm) and few "secret" modifications, to make the pump still work as the original one, siviliced way. Looks like the pump can deliver enough fuel to max power outputs (optimistic values): 200 D OM601 300 hp 250 D OM602 and OM605 400 hp 300 D OM606 and OM606 500 hp More that 140 hp / liter is difficult to achieve with 2 valve structure, but it is not impossible. If some one is interested, I can help. Also custom exhaust manifolds can be made by my friend. |

After Mynä-Diesels changes, the pump has external full load adjuster. Takes 15 seconds to turn it up :sun_smile

sounds sweet!
I just did a quote from ups's website and $393 to ship it to zip code 02100 in finland....ouch Mauri could have it by monday though lol no such thing as 'ground' for international shipping..atleast to finland anyway :( |
Jes, no too cheap to ship to here, I know, I have lots of parts on their way from US to Finland, and I'm talking about heavy car parts :(
|
Mauri, is your favorite shop for pump modification Myna Diesel, or a different place? I forget if I already asked or not, but what is the approximate cost for an OM603 pump rebuild with the 7mm pump elements, external full load adjustment, etc etc?
SYRacing, we can send the pump via USPS Airmail Parcel Post for about $75, maybe less, depending on how much it weighs. Here's the post office price chart for sending to Finland (scroll down for rates) : http://pe.usps.gov/text/imm/immicl/immicleg_011.html :D :D |
Mynä-Diesel is the ONLY way to go. They kind of invented these high power pumps, and also make pumps to our most succesfull Tractor Pullers.
They are also doing continuous developing. |

Almost worth Flying over for a vacation while they do it........and hand carry it. What is air fare to there these days? |
wonder if Myna would even touch an OM617 pump..
Mauri have you ever or known anybody that had there 617 pump turned up by myna? what kind of power levels would you expect from a setup like yours, HX-40, custom intake and exhaust? just curious..all this talk of 603s :D gsxr: Cool, didnt realize usps would be cheaper. Good news :) |
While I don't doubt the fact that Myna Diesel knows their stuff there has got to be someone here in the US that is able to do this. There are too many diesel truck and tractor pulling enthusiasts, someone is tweaking pumps. My local shop will turn up any pump 10% no questions asked. They will also turn it up as high as you want provided you sign a waiver and it's for an "offroad" vehicle, wink wink knudge knudge. RT

I agree with RT.
There has to be a more reasonable manner to get the tuning done Don't get me wrong, I am not a huge domestic automobile fan, however shipping and whatnot would kill us enthusiants  I will ask dad if he knows some good shops. There is this place I am going to be taking my benz soon to get the injectors pop tested and I think they do IP work as well. I think the only trick here is getting the larger elements. Other than that the IP's are 'foreign' in comparision to any other diesel...bosch is bosch.. I will report back later :) |

I have never heard that some one else has tuned up these old diesels the way we have done. But just ask around, it would be easier for you. |
I had the pleasure to talk with Mauri by phone! We're thinking the best way to get my project done! It's really amazing the capacity Mauri and his "team" has to make this projects so "simple" :)
Congratulation! |
Wish Mauri was a ham radio nut (see thread).
We could ragchew for HOURS on the low bands :) |
