The tachometer lacks a delineation for redline rpm. What is considered redline for the 617.952? What is considered optimal cruising rpm on the hi-way? I usually run ~3k at ~70mph. I don't like to get above 3.5k if I can help it. Thanks for your time.

Alec.

Red line for a 617 is 4,750rpm. I have run mine there before plenty of times for extended periods on the open interstate. Seems to keep everything in order! I tell you one thing, there's NO carbon on the inside of my engine! This is in a 1980 300SD Turbo. Mileage is 181,000 and still going strong!
