The tachometer lacks a delineation for redline rpm. What is considered redline for the 617.952? What is considered optimal cruising rpm on the hi-way? I usually run ~3k at ~70mph. I don't like to get above 3.5k if I can help it. Thanks for your time.

Red line for a 617 is 4,750rpm. I have run mine there before plenty of times for extended periods on the open interstate. Seems to keep everything in order! I tell you one thing, there's NO carbon on the inside of my engine! This is in a 1980 300SD Turbo. Mileage is 181,000 and still going strong! ------------------ Rgds, Aaron Greenberg MB technician Precision Motorcars, Cincinnati, Ohio '67 250SE Cabriolet '77 450SL '80 300SD '85 380SE '86 420SEL '89 420SEL '93 300E 2.8 '74 Jensen Interceptor Mk.III '81 DeLorean DMC12 '84 BMW 745i Turbo |
