Got back from my trip..........
........to Chicago to pick up the old 190D engine. It still turns after the 20 years in storage, albeit stiffly. I'll be setting up a pressurized oiling system to allow it to flush out all of the oil passages as soon as I get the shop cleared out. I'll also be putting a bit of ATF in each cylinder to get the bores lubed up again. I pulled the oil cap off, and it looked good inside from that vantage. At worst I have a collection of parts that far outvalues the price I paid for this engine. Spare injection pumps, heads, injectors, generator, and whatnot are hard to find. :D

Good luck and keep us posted on its progress. I am becoming a fan of the pontons, I have discovered... I kinda wish I had space for one, but I am still at the battle of wits with mother for her to allow me to use my space in the garage to park a 240D... my VUE sits out at school, so it won't be a big change for it to sit out at home too.
