Why is it that all these cars come up on the east coast?

I have the wife thinking thuis may be okay to look at a newer car and then there aren't any advertised in the NW...

Dear friends:

Please take a look at the engine compartment. You can see terrible rust on the air filter housing, the brake vacuum booster and the power steering reservoir/pump. The antifreeze looks very dark in the coolant expansion tank, and white antifreeze deposit can also be seen around the radiator (indicating some leaks). The battery looks like a cheap aftermarket one.

With an engine compartment in such bad condition, I don't believe that this car has been regularly serviced at all, and its mileage of 78125 miles does not look plausible to me, in terms of its condition.

I have never seen a 1980 300SD in which the breather hose is not connected to the top of the air filter housing, like the one in this ad. Something's not right here.

Best regards,

Eric

I thought that's how it was on the early turbo 617, the 617.950? On the 617.952, the breather hose was re-routed to the top of the air filter housing.

Why is it TXBill? How ironic, just tonight I was wondering "where's TXBill these days?"

I agree with the rust. I noticed that immediately, as well as the radiator whiteness. Even the brake cylinder is rusty! But I must say the interior is beautiful. Why does such a "great car" need a repaint job??? I want that car though... But then again I do not want it!

Dear 300SDLLLL:

I can bet with you that the white stuff on the radiator is NOT paint
coming off. It must be leaking antifreeze deposit because I've seen such a thing on several diesel cars already.

The seller said that this car has a professional paint repaint job.

Eric
