Here I go again bought another 83SD
I got a call from a friend who has a buddy that spun out his 83SD and ran it up and over a curb. I was originally planning on fixing it for him and making a few extra bucks. I had hoped just the pan and maybe a few other odds and ends.
I didn't take anything apart, but crawled around and poked a bit. The damage I can see is the oil pan for sure and most likely the oil pump. I would bet even money that the upper oil pan ate it too. 2 blown tires and bent wheels, trans cross member is tweaked and I assume it kicked the alignment of the drive shaft out of whack. The exhaust about mid cabin crushed flat and some minor body pan damage. We talked for a bit and I told him without getting into it, there is no way to know for sure. That the pan had to come down and an exploration needed to begin. The concept to risky for him (not knowing the outcome and cost) so we agreed that he would have it towed to my home and I would buy it from him. We didn't lock a solid price, but it seems $500.00 is about where we are going to wind up. The good is the transmission was rock solid; the leather interior is about a 7 or maybe an 8. The wood is a solid 9+, the body rust free and chrome items bright. Air like ice and all other electric items work as they should. Because the interior is the same color, I am either going to use it as a parts car to improve my current SD or move the best parts to my car and then fix his and sell it in a semi rough state or I will part it out or for the about $1000.00 I will have in it (not including time) keep it as a backup to our small stable of stinkpots. Don
