holy crap my engine bay is like an oil slick!

I spent 3 hrs today cleaning the engine compartment bay on my 240d and it hardly looks like I made A dent. Any tips or just jump back in it and keep on cleaning. by the way I saw pictures of A members engine bay just recently,and I am amazed how spotless it is it must have taken forever to do it!!!
