Hello all,
This relates to the previously discussed 123 300td without turbo. Ie;1985 euro diesel. Anyway, the car drives VERY WELL.........tight and PEPPY in the mountains.......no cancer........ No one in the general vecinity of the car to do a compression test.............HOWEVER, If I go up EARLY on a COLD COLD morning and it fires right up, then I will be somewhat happy. The question being, there is some BLUE SMOKE at IDLE and upon acceleration...........actually way too much for me........still???????? I have been told that a comprfession test WILL NOT show wear of the oil rings........granted, that one would ASSUME that ALL of the rings would wear evenly. Aleakdown test would mostly show if compression is leaking past the valves or not. Possibly only MAY require valve SEALS.............the million dollar question. ![]() Any thoughts? Thanx, spo. |
