Smashed oil pan picture
The 300SD I am either going to fix or buy should up by tow yesterday. I am fairly certain, it brings to the end the life of this 300SD, but will be dropping the pan to confirm it.
There is damage to the trans support as well, bent pretty good. Don

About 6-7 years ago, a tow truck dropped a tow bar and it took out my oil pan (on the 60x's the pan is cast and shatters).
I turned the car off immediately -- just as the pressure disappeared. The repairs were paid by the tow truck owner (the City of Chicago Streets and Sanitation Department). The only real damage was a shattered oil pan, a cracked oil pump, a bent dip stick tube, a shattered mount for the front sway bar, and shattered lower plastic shield. I was very nervous that the car was shot. I can tell you that I have put on another 150kmi since then, and all is well. Do not count it out until you look at it without the pan.

Oil pump, lower pan, new tranny mount. Unless it was run without oil pressure, you clear the rods and crank, probably only got the oil pump pickup, but I'd put in a new pump anyway.
Check the bell housing and pan on the tranny, too. Peter
