rotating steering wheel makes grinding noise from rear wheel

1992 300D

While I am rotating the steering wheel, with gear in D and brake pedal pressed, the rear wheel rotates a few degree.
In that time, I hear grinding noise from rear wheel.

If I do this with gear in N, or brake pedal not pressed, I do not hear the grinding noise.

Is this normal in MB diesels due to high torque engine?

Rear brake rotors are only 1 month old. The mechanic sain the rear brake pads are still OK. (The rotors were replaced during parking brake job.)

Most likely dust build up in the area
where the emergency brake pads are.
Out of adjustment emergency brakes or
brake pads need replacement.

I think what you are experiencing is normal. The car is being inched along by the fact that it is in drive, and you are turning the steering wheel from side to side. At very low sppeeds the brakes will make peculiar noises, depending on exactly how much pressure there is and the relative motion between the discs and pads. I would not worry about it. Try modulating the pressure on the brake a little, or not turning the steering with the brakes applied very hard. Good luck, Jim
