When I first got this car, it wouldn't pull the hat off your head from a dead stop. In western Pa., we have lots of stoplights in the middle of steep hills. I would push the pedal to the floor and wait for my aneroid to feed fuel. We had these things on truck engines many years ago, they were called smoke eliminators. We disconnected them. The Mercedes is a little more complicated. What I did with mine was, pop the rubber cap off the center, break loose the locknut, and turn the screw out as far as it would go, then turn it back in one half turn, tighten the locknut, and put the rubber cap back on. Now, when I tramp the pedal down, I get a puff of smoke and away she goes
