Replaced the RF window motor

I finally relpaced the window motor on the passenger side.

I had thought that the problem was something dealing with the linkage, because the motor worked smoothly and fast until one day it jus didn't work at all. The lights dimmed a bit when I hit the switch, but I tried hooking the RF switch to another working switch and it was still no go,

I had a hunch that I would need a new motor, so I bought a new one here in Miami at the Finish Line on SW 8th Street a couple of doors W of Red Road (SW 54th Street) on the S side. It came to a rather reasonable $81.00 tax included, which is a LOT less than many seem to charge for this. It was made in Germany by Bosch, so I guess it's really a bargain.

All I needed to do, once I took off the door panel (don't mess with the door pocket, it's not necessary) was feel around on the backside of the motor for the three 10 mm bolts. I also loosened the regulator bolts to make a little more room to pop the new motor into position. The wires on the old motor were soldered on, so I had to resolder the new one, as I didn't have a plug.

After tightening it all up, I put a nylon band around the input wires to the motor and a big piece of duct tape to hold it all together. I also used duct tape to protect my hands from the sharp edges of the door and to reinstall the vapor barrier plastic.

Before wrapping it all up, I lowered the window and sprayed white lithium grease on all the tracks, pivots and other moving parts of the regulator.

So now it works. Thanks to all of you for providing the details and giving me the courage to do this.

And yes, the old motor was dead. It won't run even when not connected to the regulator.

I hear it can be repaired.

Good job.

I love happy endings to these stories...
Unfortunately for me it seems that as soon as I get into a job like that a bolt breaks off or the wires are melted or something...

Congrats!
